FREE WALK SUGGESTIONS!

Here are some more ideas of where you can take your pushchair in the Midlands. These are lovely places to go, but not worth a route description.

Mortimer Forest, Ludlow - follow the blue waymarkers for an accessible trail through the woodland. Some gradients.

 

The Pool, Coalbrookdale - easy access path around the pool with picnic area.

 

Kingsford Forest - if you don't fancy our walk, try the 0.5km Robin Trail from Kingsford Lane car park below Kinver Edge.

 

Stiperstones - short accessible trail at the foot of the ridge with views to Long Mynd.

 

The Ribbesford Trail, Bewdley - 2 mile waymarked accessible trail by the Severn. Maps available from tourist centres.

 

Albrighton Moat, nr Telford- purpose built accessible and sensory gardens.

 

Wyre Forest, Kidderminster - accessible trail marked with yellow posts from the visitor centre.

PWM16 Rudyard Lake, Leek

1.5hrs: 2 miles (3km 2 hour 30 minutes: 4 miles (6.4 km)

A lovely walk at a popular beauty spot, Rudyard Lake , which incorporates a trip on a miniature railway. The route is easy going throughout and affords fantastic views over the lake. The railway runs most weekends (March – November) and weekdays in school summer holidays (Talking Timetable – 01538 306704). Dogs are allowed on the trains.

 

PWM8 Ellesmere Canal and Meres, Shropshire

2hrs: 3.5 miles (5.5 km)

Walk along the Llangollen Canal past narrow boats, through beautiful woodland and even through a tunnel! Visit lakes, feed the waterbirds and stop for a play and picnic by the waters edge in a lovely park. Good paths throughout but the water edges are all unprotected.

PWM23 Brown Moss Nature Reserve, Whitchurch

45 mins: 1 mile (1.6 km)

A stroll around a wetland nature reserve, with waterbirds, woodland and boardwalks over the wettest bits! This route can get very muddy, so ATPs only and wellies are recommended and don't forget food for the ducks! Dogs must be kept under control and water edges are unprotected.

PWM 15 Tardebigge Flight, Bromsgrove

2hrs: 3.5 miles (5.5 km)

A fantastic canal walk that takes you past a long famous series of locks and a reservoir. The circular walk then loops back through beautiful Worcestershire farmland. The walk is suitable for both single and double all terrain pushchairs.

PWM 14 Piper's Hill, Bromsgrove

1 hour: 1.5 miles (2.4km)

A lovely walk through a fantastic area of woodland which contains more than 240 veteran trees that are over 400 years old! This is a fantastic place for toddlers and adults to explore and listen out for woodpeckers live in the old trees. This walk is fairly easy going apart from one short but very steep slope

PWM7 Diglis Basin & the River Severn, Worcester

1 hour 30 mins: 2.75 miles (4.4km)

An easy city walk that takes you past many of the historic sites of Worcester . The walk is suitable for all buggies and has plenty to amuse both adults and children with parks, water fountains and fantastic picnic spots. The River Severn and the majestic Cathedral make a fantastic back-drop for the majority of the route.

PWM18 Worcestershire Beacon, The Malvern Hills

1 hour 30 minutes: 2.75 miles (4.4 km)

Climb to the highest point in the Malvern Hills for a beautiful walk with amazing views across the hills, Worcestershire and Herefordshire. This is a strenuous uphill walk and it is recommended two adults go to share the pushing. All terrain pushchairs only.

PWM19 Carding Mill Valley, Church Stretton

1 hour: 1.75 miles (3km)

A simple but stunning linear walk up this beautiful valley in the hills above Church Stretton. Streams to paddle in, grass to picnic on, fords to cross and a tea shop on the route! A mixture of road and rocky paths, so ATPs only. Waterproof footwear needed!

PWM20 The Wrekin, Telford

2 hours: 2 miles (3.5km )

A very strenuous walk to the top of the world! At least, that's what it feels like when you take in the stunning views in every direction from the top of the hill. Stony track, very steep in places. ATPs and fit pushers only! 2 people are recommended to share the effort, but if you're lucky the halfway cafe will be open.

PWM21 Haughmond Hill, Shrewsbury

1 hour 30 mins: 2.5 miles (4km )

A lovely woodland walk with a bit of geology, an iron age fort, spectacular views and a café in the car park (open Wed-Sun). Good paths throughout, though muddy in places, suitable for strollers and double buggies there-and-back to the viewpoint.

PWM22 Shrewsbury Battlefield

1 hour: 1.5 miles (2.5km )

A level walk around farmland which was the site of the Battle of Shrewsbury in 1403. Take toy swords to re-enact the battle as you walk between king, peacemakers and rebel lords! Information boards around the walk fill you in on the history and the main players. Good gravel paths suitable for all single buggies.

PWM2 Astwood to Hanbury Wharf, Droitwich

1 hour 45 minutes: 3.5 miles (5.6 km)

A very easy and tranquil walk along the towpath of the Worcester & Birmingham Canal to a pub and picnic spot. The canal is accessible at any time of the year but is especially beautiful in spring when it is lined with reeds and yellow irises. An in summer you can pick fruit as you go!

This walk has been withdrawn due to path deterioration.
