A very belated Happy New Year!

We've not been up to much due to excessive snow, long dark nights and wet weekends, but have noticed that many of you are brave enough to drag the family out into the elements for a bit of exercise! Hopefully, spring is now on it's way so get the family outside and carry on shedding those Christmas pounds!

Facebook

Don't forget we're also on facebook! So you can become a fan, share our site with others or let us know any route information or even walk suggestions. Just log in as normal and search for Pushchair Walks. We'll also post news there as and when it happens, so keep visiting for all the latest updates!

The Recession

Yes, it's cutback time, not only for the government but many families are also feeling the squeeze. Don't forget that getting out and about not only costs very little - a bus fare, or you can maybe even walk from the house - but also increases everyone's sense of wellbeing. Get down to the local park and look for the first bulbs pushing though the soil, get the kids away from the TV to have a run around, spot shells on a beach or just stomp out your woes around the local streets. Even if you can't stretch to buying one of our walks (they're a whole big POUND after all!), we have free trials and suggestions of where to go.

Attraction of the Month

Attractions and events from around the UK, all year round activities and seasonal events... If you want to recommend a personal favourite, email us here.

Slimbridge Wetland Centre

According to their by-line, Slimbridge is the ideal place to get closer to nature and it's certainly true that you can have close encounters with a variety of wild birds. Located in the Severn Estuary near Gloucester, the centre is run by the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust, and Slimbridge is an important focus for wetland conservation. For the visitor, there are a variety of events year round, pushchair access is great, there are cafes on site and there's even a wet play area for little ones! Open all year except Dec 25th - remember wellies and spare clothes!

(N.B. pushchairwalks.co.uk has not necessarily visited the attractions featured and cannot be held responsible for the content of external websites or the quality of the attractions themselves.)

Warning: some routes can be slippery!

Featured and New Walks

As a result of prolonged bad weather, there are no new walks to add this month - sorry! Look out for castle and otter-related walks coming soon....

Route News

Unfortunately, part of our free south-east walk, Watt's Meadow to Baty's Marsh, is now a housing development, and part of the right of way has been removed. We have made Chipperfield Common, near Hemel Hempstead our new free south-east walk.

On all walks, bear in mind winter mud and ice can make paths extra slippery so take care when out and about.

Though we check as many routes as possible we can't visit them all, so please keep route changes coming in to us, they are invaluable in keeping the site up to date. If new obstacles have been encountered, please let us know where on the route they are so we can pass on the information.

Our group of contributors is ever increasing, but we always welcome more!
