Page 1 2 3

Get behind the cliches of clotted cream and Cornish Pasties and discover a magical world of history and beauty. Breathtaking clifftop walks, rugged open country and some of the finest coastline in Britain. Mind you, make sure you do get a pastie, oh, and a scone with jam and clotted cream! (Glass of cider anyone?!)

PWS1: Sand Point, Weston-super-Mare

1 hour : 1 mile (1.5 km)

A short but strenuous there and back walk along a headland jutting out into the Bristol Channel from Sand Bay at the eastern end of Weston-Super-Mare.  To gain the top of the headland there is a flight of 40 steps up from the car park, but the views along the coast and out across the channel are stunning and on a clear day it is well worth the uphill effort!

PWS12: Weston Woods, Weston-Super-Mare

1 hours: 2 miles (3.2 km)

Weston Woods is a gorgeous stretch of woodland high on a limestone headland above the town with fantastic views across the Severn Estuary. This walk follows woodland paths and tracks, broad enough for double buggies but off-road pushchairs are recommended.

PWS11: Lower Batson to South Sands, Salcombe

1 hour 30 minutes: 2.5 miles (4 km)

This walk takes you alongside a quiet creek and through the charming seaside town of Salcombe . The walk is perfect for all pushchairs and can be combined with a ferry trip during the summer months to make a circular route. Distance and time should be doubled if not using the ferry

PWS8: Avon Estuary, Aveton Gifford, Kingsbridge

1 hour: 2.75 miles (4.4 km)

A great walk in the wonderfully tranquil setting of the Avon Estuary. The route takes you along part of the Avon Estuary Walk and gives great opportunity for watching the estuarine birds. This route is cut off at high tide so make sure you check the tide times before you leave.

PWS14: Corfe Castle , Isle of Purbeck

1 hour : 1.5 miles (2.4 km)

A lovely walk to the National Trust village of Corfe Castle which incorporates a ride on the Swanage steam railway. The paths are easy going throughout and there is just one low fence to lift the pushchair over.

PWS16: Swyre Head, Kingston , Purbeck

1 hour 15 minutes: 2.25 miles (3.6 km)

An easy walk on grass paths to a fantastic view point and a lovely picnic spot. The route gives great views over Encombe House, one of the largest country estates in Dorset , which is set within a deep natural vale appropriately named The Golden Bowl.

PWS13: Church Knowle to Grange Arch , Purbeck

2 hours : 4 miles (6.4 km )

This great route takes you up to a ridge path from the Dorset town Church Knowle. There are fine views across the surrounding countryside and coast. The turning point for the walk is an unusual arch folly built by the owner of a local manor house.

PWS17: Durdle Door, West Lulworth, Purbeck

1 hour 15 minutes : 2 miles (3.2 km)

This is a beautiful but strenuous walk along the Dorset coast path from the beautiful Lulworth Cove to the impressive rock arch, Durdle Door. The paths are steep in places and there are shallow steps to go up and down, however, the views are spectacular and well worth the effort!

PWS19: Brean Down, Weston-Super-Mare

1 hour 30 mins: 3 miles (5km)

Walk along Brean Down, jutting out into the Bristol Channel to the Napoleonic Fort at the end. Lovely coastal views and there's a tea shop, beach and bird garden by the car park! The track is good all the way, but the climb to the top is very steep and we strongly recommend a pram leash for the descent.

PWS20: Uphill Hill Nature Reserve, Weston-Super-Mare

1 hour: 1.5 miles (2km)

A short walk around a local Nature Reserve with a historic church, a windmill to climb, grassy areas with abundant wild flowers and brilliant views. A variety of paths including rough tracks and grass with a steep ascent/descent and there's a kissing gate to lift over. ATPs only.

PWS23: Quantock's Head, Kilve, Bridgwater

1 hour: 2 miles (3.2 km)

A picturesque coastal stroll with fine views of the Quantocks, Exmoor and the island of Steep Holm . Spend some time on the beach fossil hunting and when the walk is over there is a great tea shop to visit too!
