Cosmopolitan Edinburgh, historic castles, the ancient parliamentary seat and the legends and stories of Macbeth, Rob Roy as well as the golfing capital and historic town of St Andrews. Not to mention battles over Berwick, the Birks of Aberfeldy the Southern Uplands. There's alot going on in this area!

FREE WALK SUGGESTIONS!!

Here are some more ideas of where you can take your pushchair. These are lovely places to go, but not worth a route description.

Station Park, Moffat is a must! Lovely gardens, playground, cafe, boats, ducks and a water play area, it'll be hard to drag the kids away.

 

Quarrymill Woodland Park, Perth - a myriad of waymarked woodland walks and loads of ducks!

 

Loch Dunmore, Tay Forest Park - a level stroll around a scenic loch near Pitlochry

 

North Berwick - the lovely lodge gardens and a great beach with tidal paddling pool provide pushchairable fun!

 

EASY ACCESS TRAILS

Easy access trails are starting to appear across Britain, so here is a selection in Scotland. These are official trails and have not necessarily been tried and tested but should be suitable for wheels.

Loch Leven Heritage Trail - an accessible route on the north shores of a beautiful loch with castle and information centre.

PWA18 Roughcastle Roman Fort, Falkirk

FREE TRIAL!!

1 hour: 2 miles (3.5 km)

A walk through history from the Falkirk Wheel back in time 2000 years to visit Rough Castle Roman Fort on the Antonine Wall. Gravel paths all the way and suitable for all pushchairs, with great views of the boat wheel and canal, and the chance to take a ride through the wheel!

PWA16 Cramond Sea Front, Edinburgh

2 hours: up to 4 miles (8 km)

An easy stroll along the Firth of Forth to the picturesque village of Cramond . Great for bikes, popular with dog walkers and suitable for all, this walk is flat and smooth all the way, with beaches, ducks, tea shops and a pub for added entertainment.

PWA17 Holyrood Park, Edinburgh

1.5 hours: 2 miles (3km)

 

A varied walk beneath the famous Salisbury Crags and Arthur's Seat with stunning views across the city and a surprisingly wild feel. The off-road section is rough, so ATPs only and stout footwear is essential.

PWA46 Dalmeny Estate, Edinburgh

2 hours 30 mins: 8 km (4.5 miles)

If you like bridges, then this is for you! Walk around the lovely Dalmeny Estate from the famous Forth Bridges taking in woodland, beaches, big trees, a castle and great views. Good tracks all the way, with pubs and cafes near the start of the walk. ATPs only.

PWA36 Historic Dunkeld, by Perth

1 hour: 2 miles (3.2km)

Walk the historic sights of Dunkeld, visit and ancient tree and cathedral and finish off on a grassy bank of the River Tay complete with playground! A lovely walk on good paths suitable for all pushchairs. Dogs are not allowed in the cathedral grounds (avoidable) and must be on a lead in the parkland.

PWA37 Birnam Woods, by Perth

1 hour: 2 miles (3.2km)

A gentle stroll from the lovely village of Birnam , taking in Beatrix Potter's garden, the beautiful River Tay and Macbeth's famous oak tree. In addition, this walk, all on good paths, passes several pubs, cafés and two playgrounds! Suitable for all pushchairs. This walk can be combined with PWA36 Historic Dunkeld.

PWA20 Rob Roy's Grave, Balquhidder

1 hour: 1.5 miles (2 km)

A straightforward but fairly strenuous woodland walk above the village of Balquhidder , nestling in a remote valley. Atmospheric in both sun and snow, this walk gives you slightly more than a quick car trip to Rob Roy's grave, and is strenuous in places. ATPs only.

PWA40 St Abb's Head, nr Berwick

2 hour: 3.75 miles (6 km)

A lovely walk along lanes to St Abb's Head, famous for its spectacular views and sea birds. This walk is suitable for all pushchairs, but double buggy pushchairs will need to take the extra weight into consideration as there are two long inclines.

PWA45 Killin and the Falls of Dochart

2 hour: 4 miles (6 km)

Explore the area of Killin between the mountains and Loch Tay, taking in stone circles, a castle, a playpark and of course the spectacular Falls of Dochart . Beautiful views throughout, this walk has good tracks all the way, with an optional rougher return route for the adventurous. ATPs only, and there is a gate to lift over on the hard return .
